Am i being clingy? Guys perspective..?

there's this guy i like in my pe cl. we talk alot. i just met him this year. i always hug him. before we went on Christmas break he told me to text him. its been eleven days and I've texed him five times. he replies every time usually long detailed messages.. but tonight when i texted him he replied once then stopped. i got him a Christmas gift and i was planning to give it to him when he gets back into town. he doesn't know i bought him anything. i just told him i wanted to hang out. help!
