Why were women unappreciated and basically s in the lives of men?

How far back are you talkin? I'd say women were way more appreciated i.e in the 50's. Their womanly, curvy bodies were appreciated instead of the more boyish thin rail figures that so many female celebs have these days. Now we have the feminazis who gripe and complain if a guy tries to hold a door open for them. I'd say females are looked at as only objects now more than ever.
